Webster Wire Response
To: Rep. Webster
From: A verified voter in Orlando, FL
June 17, 2025
I am writing to address some programs you bragged about crippling by way of funding cuts. I am aware that you are a business owner and that efficiency may be a top priority for a business, but please remember that a government is not a business; it is a coalition with the goal of encouraging and protecting a flourishing society for its people.
NPR and PBS: Public access networks are essential, especially for rural areas. Just because something isn’t a GOP echo chamber doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing.
Haitian voter ID programs: The US has blood on her hands when it comes to Haiti’s history and should feel obligated to assist with political stability. Withdrawing this funding is unjust.
Iraqi Sesame Street: Your characterization of this early childhood development effort for marginalized children in a war-torn country — that the US was directly involved in furthering — is disingenuous.
Climate resilience programs: You don’t have to like climate change, but the worsening Florida heat and hurricane seasons can’t be denied.
Mexican Net Zero Cities: All countries contribute to climate change. We’re shooting ourselves in the foot if we refuse to address this world-wide.
Venezuelan reproductive health: This one made my jaw drop, because isn’t one of the major parts of your platform being pro-life? Being pro-life knows no borders or nationality. If America doesn’t use its greatness to help the vulnerable, what use is it to be great?
I am truly saddened to see how you’ve traded to loyalty to the Constitution and Americans for loyalty to a President who doesn’t care two licks about the country.
