This bill, the maliciously and inaccurately named Equal Representation Act, would require the census to gather information on the citizenship status of e The bill writers claim the intent is to accurately determine state populations of citizens to dictate the number of House Representatives. But if we've learned anything from the actions of the past year, we know this is completely and utterly false. This data in the hands of a Trump-led government will lead to cruel round ups of immigrants (regardless of status since that's not actually their concern ) and will be used for any and all malicious purposes. Regardless of how it may make House reapportionments "fair," we've seen time and time again that many Republicans think fair means solely for their benefit. They will twist and use this bill to ruin the lives of immigrants to this country, spread fear, and punish blue states in any and every way possible. Stand firm against H.R. 151!
