Shutdown Vote
To: Sen. Kaine
From: A constituent in Chesapeake, VA
November 15
As a resident of Virginia and a spouse of an active duty service member, I was proud to vote for you as my Senator and for Vice President. My pride and confidence in you to safeguard the ideals of my family came to an abrupt end this week when you failed to maintain the course and voted to end the shutdown without gaining the intended outcome. You made the 40 days of uncertainty and pain be for nothing. You gained nothing and made the sacrifice and uncertainty of my family meaningless. Your vote disrespected the struggles and hopes of your constituents. You did not gain a subsidy extension, meaning you were the weak link of the party line. I saw your interviews where you scoffed at your constituents who are so upset with you. It only showcases that you do not represent us, only your own ideas. I don't know whether you plan to run in 2030 or not, but you have lost my confidence for any election from this day forward. I will write in a candidate before I vote for you again. Shame on you.
