I urge you to vote no on HCR-1013, the "Christ is King" resolution. While the intent may be to honor Christianity's role in Oklahoma's history, this resolution promotes a state-sanctioned religion in violation of the constitutional separation of church and state. Elevating one faith above others marginalizes non-Christian Oklahomans and disregards our state's religious diversity. Furthermore, it overlooks the historical atrocities committed against Native American children in religious boarding schools, an injustice carried out in the name of Christianity. Oklahomans have freedom of religion, but the state should not endorse or favor any one belief system. This resolution undermines religious liberty and sends a message that some citizens are valued more than others based on their faith. I ask that you uphold the rights of all Oklahomans by rejecting HCR-1013 and any measures that breach the critical divide between church and state.
