Oh, the hypocrisy! I read your op-ed in the New York Times, and cannot get over this embarrassing public display of what can only be called a classic case of cognitive dissonance. Springfield deserves better, as do the Haitian immigrants you claim to care about. I, too, have a long-standing mission to support the people of Haiti, and the minute I saw Vance’s claims last Monday, I was filled with white hot anger. This kind of dehumanization (and the continued doubling-down when his claims were fact-checked) is straight out of a Nazi playbook! It is far worse than being a cynical ploy for political leverage, it’s 100% vile and repugnant slander. And YOU ARE GOING TO VOTE FOR THAT?! Your duplicity knows no bounds, does it? How on earth could you twist yourself into this intellectual pretzel shape? Is it to save yourself some discomfort from his rabid cult members? To salvage your own political career? Every Haitian you ever cared for or tried to support would turn their backs on you, Governor. During the pandemic, you showed yourself to be a somewhat conscientious leader who relies on experts to make critical decisions. But what you’ve just shown us is that you are so spineless, so craven, that you will signal your support for two vile people who WILL continue this rhetoric, and worse. What will you do when these guys send the National Guard into Springfield to round up and deport people? To separate more families, perhaps forever? It is worth noting that over 1,300 children separated from their families under Trump have still not been reunited with their families, and likely never will be. Those tragedies are owned just as much by you, as they are by Trump. In short, you’re “vile by association” as you tap dance your way into more of this disgusting behavior. It is wild that you voluntarily showed us what a cowardly hypocrite you truly are. You know better, but you won’t do better. Absolutely disgusting, Governor.
