An Open Letter

I believe that Americans have a right to privacy. This is something that has been impinged upon again and again over the last 100 years. I honestly don't know if you share this belief with me. The GOP sure seems happy to march America towards becoming a totalitarian surveillance state. I am writing to you in strong opposition to the "Parents Decide Act." This act will require all computer operating system makers to add mandatory age verification to all operating systems. This is an invasive overreach of government. This bill also states that identifying information will be used for "other purposes." We all know that means that this data will be used by the government to track citizens' actions online. You freaks are obsessed with taking away our right to privacy so you can track and log everything we do. We have seen with our own eyes over the last several years that every time our rights are taken away like this, it is an opportunity for the next party in power to flip things on their head and to justify tracking Americans for a new reason that aligns with their agenda. One year, the government wants to hunt down and prosecute people for being gay, the next year it is for their religious beliefs. Our privacy needs to be enshrined in the constitution. I am sick of having to yell and scream at everyone around me about this same issue every 4 months. Vote against the "Parents Decide Act." Propose a bill that protects Americans' right to privacy both in private spaces and on the internet.
