PETITION: Clean Water Emergency in West Virginia We the People call on the Governor of West Virginia, the West Virginia Legislature, and our U.S. Congressional Delegation to act immediately on the drinking water crisis devastating WV communities. Across Wyoming County and beyond, families have lost access to safe water. Wells are erupting with contaminated discharge. Water runs black, rust-orange, and undrinkable — laced with methane, iron, manganese, sulfur compounds, and acid mine drainage traced to coal operations. Residents are hauling and rationing bottled water just to survive. Pets and livestock have died. People are getting sick. This is not an isolated incident. It is a widening emergency that has gone unaddressed for too long. We demand: 1. Immediate emergency bottled water relief for all affected households — funded by the state, not borne by residents. 2. An independent, third-party investigation into groundwater contamination — not one conducted by the same agencies that have approved continued mining in these areas. 3. A fully funded, long-term remediation plan with binding timelines and accountability measures. Clean water is not a political issue. It is a human right. The people of West Virginia have powered this nation for generations. They deserve better than poisoned wells and empty promises. Act now. The water cannot wait.
