Protect arts funding, preserve cultural institutions

The proposed cuts to the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) funding would have devastating impacts on arts organizations across the country, including prominent national organization like American Ballet Theater. Robust local organizations like Other Voices Theatre and Maryland Ensemble Theatre in my hometown of Frederick, Maryland will also lose funding as a result of these cuts. These cuts will force difficult decisions, potentially leading to fewer shows, reduced programming, and even theater closures. The arts play a crucial role in fostering empathy, understanding, and bringing communities together. Cutting NEA funding would deprive audiences of powerful artistic experiences that challenge perspectives and promote positive social change. It is imperative to maintain robust support for the arts, as they are essential to a vibrant, inclusive, and culturally rich society. I urge you to oppose any efforts to reduce or eliminate funding for the National Endowment for the Arts.
