I am writing to express my outrage over the Israeli government’s blatant lies regarding the killing of Palestinian Red Crescent workers in Gaza. The recent New York Times article has brought to light the disturbing truth behind the deaths of these humanitarian workers.
The Israeli government's initial claim that the aid workers were "advancing suspiciously" towards Israeli troops without headlights or emergency signals has been thoroughly debunked by eyewitness accounts and video evidence. In reality, the workers were clearly marked and identifiable as humanitarian personnel, and their vehicles were equipped with lights and sirens ¹.
Furthermore, forensic evidence suggests that the workers were executed in cold blood, with bullet wounds indicating intentional and specific targeting. The fact that some of the bodies were found with their hands tied behind their backs only adds to the horror of this incident ¹.
I urge you to take immediate action to address this egregious violation of international humanitarian law. The Israeli government's actions are unacceptable, and it is our responsibility as a nation to hold them accountable.
The last quotes from the paramedic before his murder will haunt me: “‘Forgive me, mother. This is the path I chose — to help people,’ he said. ‘Allahu akbar,’ God is great, he says.”¹.
