Oppose HB2438 - Trans Erasure Bill

To: Gov. Hobbs, Rep. Gutierrez, Sen. Sundareshan, Rep. Mathis

April 18

Title: Oppose HB2438 - Trans Erasure Bill HB2438 seeks to restrict Arizonans' ability to update their gender markers on state identification documents in line with their gender identity. This transphobic legislation would force many trans and non-binary individuals to carry IDs that inaccurately portray their gender, exposing them to potential harassment and discrimination. The bill's requirement of providing proof of certain medical procedures to qualify for a gender marker change is an undue burden that invades personal privacy. No one should have to undergo surgery or produce personal medical records simply to have an ID that reflects who they truly are. This regressive proposal perpetuates the marginalization of an already vulnerable community. I urge you to reject HB2438 and uphold the dignity and rights of Arizona's trans and non-binary citizens.
