Hi, I’m a member of Indivisible Westside Los Angeles and a constituent from Santa Monica.
As Angelinos, we have been hit hard for the last several years by the pandemic, strikes, film production being lured away to Atlanta, Vancouver and NY, and now the fires. Without help from our State, film and TV production will continue to decline in California. And as an engine of our economy, Los Angeles could spiral into depression. We are in the most critical moment of our fight to maintain our California film and television jobs program. We need your voice more than ever.
Last week, two key bills — AB 1138 and SB 630 — passed out of Appropriations Committees. But the $420M in added funding was removed — even though it remains in Gov. Newsom’s budget. To keep film and TV jobs in California, lawmakers must pass both the funding and the program changes together by July 1.
If you don’t, productions will continue to leave our state — and so will the jobs and careers we depend on.
Thank you for your time and attention.
