new juvenile law
To: Gov. Moore
From: A constituent in Beltsville, MD

utmost importance. I initially hesitated to write this letter but over the past few weeks I have realized that regardless of appearances what I have to say is still of the I do realize that the bill has been signed, but the facts that affect its signing are still in play. I am referring to the bill that would allow juveniles as young as ten to be tried for a variety of offenses. I believe it is essential to state that at a time when you're seeing all these lawsuits cropping up for children being mistreated in juvenile detention c ore them faced. enters it is if nothing else in bad taste to send children this young until the same holding centers without rectifying the issues the ones that came bef ngerous locations for crimes that do not warrant this response. When it comes down to it with this decision, it would appear that you are sending overwhelmingly impacted black and indigenous children to be held in da I urge you to reconsider this and in the future to put a premium on the safety of children instead of their criminalization.
