I am writing to ask for your support of the ISLET Act, which would expand access to life-changing islet cell transplantation for people living with Type 1 diabetes. Families affected by Type 1 diabetes live with the constant risk of severe blood sugar emergencies and long-term complications. Islet cell therapy has the potential to improve quality of life, reduce dangerous hypoglycemia, and offer hope to patients who struggle despite careful management. The current regulatory system has made access to this therapy unnecessarily difficult in the United States. The ISLET Act would help modernize the process and align the U.S. with other countries that already allow broader access to islet transplantation.
