Please take the time to read the article “What’s being done to fight rising rates of Cancer in Iowa” in the Sunday, May 11th Cedar Rapids Gazette.
Tremendous innovations in treatment are happening right here in Iowa. Sadly, those treatments are at risk due to the reckless cuts by DOGE and these cuts could have lasting effects. The article states that “ more than 95% of cancer advances in the last 20 years started with federal funding”. Cutting funding for cancer research as a byproduct of these reckless cuts will allow endanger future research and the best minds in this field could look elsewhere to do their research.
You should be working with the University of Iowa to make sure that this funding is restored and researchers have what they need to do their work.
