Stop Musk from taking congress’ power

To: Rep. Fulcher, Sen. Risch, Sen. Crapo

February 7

The Constitution is the bedrock of America, enshrining principles like the separation of powers and checks and balances. However, recent actions by the Trump administration and Elon Musk's group of operatives have undermined Congress's vital power of the purse. This usurpation of Congressional authority represents a flagrant violation of the Constitution and a threat to the rule of law. The Founders vested the power to appropriate funds solely with Congress to prevent any individual or branch from unilaterally controlling the nation's resources. Yet, the administration has claimed this power through executive orders abolishing agencies like USAID. Musk's unelected group has blocked Treasury disbursements and access to government systems without any Constitutional power. The administration is openly defying laws like the Impoundment Control Act by refusing to spend congressionally allocated funds. This brazen disregard for Constitutional constraints cannot be tolerated. Preserving the Constitution's integrity requires firm action. Congress must reassert its authority through investigations, resolutions, and if necessary, impeachment proceedings for the President's egregious abuses of power. This does not reflect the conservative values I was raised with, and it is deeply troubling to watch. Inaction in the face of such blatant Constitutional violations is a dereliction of duty. Protecting the Constitution is essential to safeguarding liberty for Idahoans.
