Legalize cannabis. Work towards regulations and age verifications, NOT PROHIBITION. Listen to your constituents: The results of a recent survey confirmed that most North Carolina voters support legalizing cannabis. MPP's Kevin Caldwell commented on the new poll in Forbes, highlighting the bipartisan support for reform: "The most recent polling shows what North Carolinians have been showing for years in polls. A solid majority of Independents, Democrats and Republicans want the failed policy of prohibition to end." Furthermore, the DEA has released its updated report confirming what advocates and researchers have pointed out for years: there has never been a reported cannabis overdose death. Meanwhile, the CDC reports about 178,000 people die from excessive drinking each year. Responsibly regulated cannabis products are the most reasonable and logical step forward. It serves the will of the people, protects underage kids from accessing it, protects people's jobs, and allows NC to continue to participate in the hemp industry.
