Urgent Constitutional Concerns: Farmland Collapse, Government Conflicts, and Project 2025 To the Honorable Justices of the Supreme Court, I write to express grave concern about the accelerating collapse of America’s agricultural system under the Trump administration’s policies—and the mounting constitutional and ethical questions surrounding Vice President JD Vance’s financial interests in AcreTrader, a farmland investment platform that has directly benefited from these decisions. Since 2025, the administration has dismantled critical USDA and USAID programs that long supported U.S. farmers and global food aid. Programs like Food for Peace and Food for Progress have been cut or suspended. Over $2 billion in food aid contracts have been canceled. Agricultural research partnerships with land-grant universities have been defunded. Rural development grants have vanished. These actions—framed as part of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and aligned with the ideology of Project 2025—have triggered a surge in bankruptcies and land loss among small and mid-sized farmers. USDA filings show a 30% increase in Chapter 12 farm bankruptcies since mid-2025. At the same time, private entities have acquired over 3.5 million acres of U.S. farmland—much of it through distressed sales. One of the key beneficiaries of this crisis is AcreTrader, which received Series B funding from JD Vance’s firm Narya Capital. Public records confirm Vance maintained this investment during and after his Senate campaign and now as Vice President. This creates a direct conflict of interest: an executive branch official shaping agricultural and foreign aid policy is financially entangled in an entity profiting from that very collapse. This is more than unethical. It poses constitutional threats to: • Public trust in the impartial execution of laws and fiduciary duties; • Equal protection for farmers being systematically excluded from relief; • Checks and balances, as the executive branch pursues consolidation and privatization aligned with Project 2025, undermining Congressional and judicial oversight. This Court has long recognized the constitutional significance of conflicts of interest, public corruption, and the misuse of federal authority to benefit private actors. This moment demands renewed judicial vigilance. I urge this Court to remain alert to legal challenges related to farmland seizures, public land privatization, government ethics, and executive overreach. The future of American agriculture—and of constitutional governance itself—hangs in the balance.
