An Open Letter

To: Sen. Reineke, Rep. Click, Gov. DeWine

From: A verified voter in Clyde, OH

December 10

I am writing to express my strong opposition to the passage of KOSA (Kids Online Safety Act) and age verification laws set to be discussed this Thursday. These measures risk not only infringing upon the civil liberties of citizens but also fail to create a safer online environment for our youth. The imposition of age verification requirements is not a remedy to the challenges of online safety. Instead, they present significant privacy risks and hinder access to essential services for minors and adults alike. I urge you to consider the grave implications these laws would have on the freedoms of Ohioans before casting your votes. Furthermore, I strongly demand the repeal of Ohio's recently enacted age verification laws that were included in last summer’s budget bill. These laws are unnecessarily burdensome and disproportionately impact marginalized groups, limiting access to information and resources that should be available to all. I implore you to prioritize the rights of Ohioans and vote against any legislation that seeks to enforce age verification and that perpetuates a culture of surveillance and control. Thank you for your attention.
