Stop the abuse of immigrants!

To: Sen. Scott, Sen. Moody

From: A constituent in Winter Park, FL

June 21, 2025

Overcrowding and unsanitary conditions in immigrant detention centers are deeply concerning and unacceptable. Children and families are being denied basic human needs like clean water, proper medical care, and adequate hygiene. Holding cells designed for a few dozen people are packed with over 150, forcing detainees to sleep outside on concrete. Mothers lack clean clothes and bottles for infants, who are described as lethargic and silent instead of crying when ill. This is a manufactured health crisis that violates human rights and dignity. Immediate action must be taken to uphold standards of humane treatment for all people within our borders, regardless of immigration status. We ask that you use your authority to address these deplorable conditions, increase oversight, and prioritize creating a fair and ethical immigration system that values human lives over enforcement at all costs.
