My family relies on vaccines to stay safe and healthy. My 3yo child has been seen in the emergency department 4 times (!) in the past 8 months due to difficulty breathing caused by asthma. Her asthma is illness induced, so we do everything we can to keep her from getting sick, including vaccines. We also rely on others getting their vaccines to keep us all safe. I just read that the Department of Health and Human Services is canceling a nearly $600 million contract with Moderna to develop vaccines for flu subtypes that could trigger future pandemics, including the bird flu. Why the hell would we do this? It’s bad enough that the HHS is attacking the COVID vaccine, but now it’s going after ALL flu vaccines? Including bird flu? It’s stupid and destructive to undermine public health in this way. I want HHS to stop attacking Covid vaccines and reinstate the funding for Moderna’s flu vaccines.
