I am writing to express my disgust and utter indignation over the GOP’s abandonment of science-based and effective, proven public health measures at the CDC. Especially, the adoption of fringe, RFK Jr. and Trump regime fueled, quack conspiracy theories, to attack the use of vaccines and public health in general. 40% of US COVID’s deaths were needless during Trump’s first term due to his regime’s public health malfeasance. In response, the spiteful policies of his second term include the total destruction of the American public health system. Enough is enough! The recently fired CDC heads must be reinstated immediately, along with impeaching RFK Jr. for dereliction of duty. You are responsible for voting for RFK Jr.’s nomination, which makes you complicit in your failure to protect your constituents from preventable serious health outcomes. And don’t mention the lie that public health programs are too costly. The Big Beautiful Bill that you helped to pass was a multi-trillion dollar boondoggle, with tax handouts to billionaires and Trump’s secret police (ICE) at the expense of the people. THAT was too costly! The obscenely wealthy can pay their fair share of taxes just like the rest of us. Others in Congress are standing up to these affronts to our public health system. Senator Bill Cassidy, being a physician, has come our against the firing of CDC’s Susan Monarez, because she espoused sensible, scientifically-sound, vaccination policies. This issue is not going away until confidence in our public health system is restored, along with vaccine supplies. Removing RFK Jr. and his anti-vax cronies, along with restoring funding for CDC’s critical work, is your job. Fix it!
