I am writing to express my profound outrage at the inhumane treatment of migrant children at the San Antonio Immigration Court, where ICE agents reportedly restrained minors with zip ties during detention. Such actions violate the dignity and basic human rights of the most vulnerable among us.
The use of physical restraints on children is beyond unacceptable—it is a disturbing escalation of enforcement tactics that have no place in a country that claims to uphold justice. These children were not criminals; they were seeking due process. Subjecting them to such treatment is not only cruel but also erodes public trust in our immigration system.
I call upon you to publicly condemn these actions, demand an investigation, and support legislation that ensures humane treatment of migrant children. Congress must take swift action to establish oversight and prevent further abuses. In addition, I urge Arizona’s state representatives to push for resolutions rejecting these practices and advocating for fair treatment of all individuals—especially children—within our immigration system.
Silence in the face of these abuses is complicity. As your constituent, I demand leadership that stands for justice and holds agencies accountable. Please do not allow this to go unanswered. I look forward to your immediate response and decisive action.
