Was this not cold-blooded murder of an American citizen?

To: Rep. Crank

From: A constituent in Colorado Springs, CO

January 9

I’m writing as a constituent and as an American who still believes Congress exists to provide oversight—especially when an executive agency uses lethal force and the public is told conflicting stories about what happened. I am asking you to do something very simple, and very specific: Please watch the publicly available videos of the ICE shooting of Renee Nicole Good. Watch them all the way through. Watch them more than once. Then, with that evidence in mind, I’m asking you to explain—plainly, publicly, and on the record—why Americans should trust the official narrative being promoted by President Trump, Secretary Noem, DHS leadership, and other administration spokespeople. Because what we have been told and what appears in the videos do not match. The President stated that an ICE agent was hospitalized and that he “didn’t know if he’d recover.” Yet in the videos circulating publicly, there is no clear indication of an ICE agent being injured—no visible “downed” agent, no apparent medical emergency, no obvious aftermath consistent with that claim. If there are additional facts that justify the administration’s statements—body camera footage, radio traffic, medical reports, incident timelines—then those facts should be produced immediately and transparently. If there aren’t, then Americans are being asked to accept a story that the available evidence does not support. This is not a left-right issue. It is a basic rule-of-law issue. When any government agency shoots a citizen, accountability is not optional. And when the highest officials in the country describe that event in dramatic terms that appear inconsistent with video evidence, Congress has a duty to step in—not to “pick a side,” but to establish what is true. So I’m asking you: 1. Will you personally review the videos and any other available footage? 2. Will you request the complete record—including body-worn camera footage (if any), surveillance footage, dispatch logs, after-action reports, and medical records documenting any claimed injuries? 3. Will you demand a verified public timeline from DHS/ICE within days, not weeks? 4. Will you call for an independent investigation and, if necessary, hearings with sworn testimony? If the administration is correct, then transparency should help them. If they are not, transparency is the only way to prevent this from turning into a deeper legitimacy crisis—where Americans conclude that official statements are propaganda and that accountability only applies to ordinary people. I’ll be candid: I do not believe you can watch those videos and still say, with a straight face, that there is no deception happening somewhere in the chain—from initial talking points to public statements from the top. Maybe it’s reckless messaging. Maybe it’s incomplete information. Maybe it’s something worse. But whatever it is, Congress is the check that exists for moments like this. Please do not dismiss this as “viral content” or “online noise.” The videos are evidence. The public statements are evidence. If you care about law enforcement credibility, public trust, and the constitutional balance of power, you should welcome the chance to compare one against the other and insist on verified facts. I am asking you—respectfully but urgently—to look at the footage, demand the underlying documentation, and tell the American people the truth about what happened to Renee Nicole Good. If you choose not to act—if you choose to accept and repeat claims that appear contradicted by the video record—then you are not merely defending an administration. You are telling the country that reality no longer matters, and that accountability has become a partisan preference rather than a democratic requirement. Please reply with a simple answer: Was this not cold-blooded murder of an American citizen?
