Reject partisan politics in Oklahoma public education

To: Gov. Stitt, Rep. McCane, Sen. Reinhardt

From: A constituent in Tulsa, OK

February 13, 2025

I strongly oppose the formation of the Trump Advisory Committee by Superintendent Ryan Walters and former State Board of Education members Kendra Wesson and Katie Quebedeaux. Their stated goal of "fighting the liberal D.C. swamp" that has supposedly "leaked into Oklahoma's Executive Branch" is concerning and appears to be an attempt to push a partisan political agenda in education. Public schools should remain free from partisan influence and focused solely on providing a high-quality, well-rounded education to all students. Injecting divisive partisan politics into education policy and curriculum decisions is detrimental to students and undermines public trust in our education system. Furthermore, the apparent endorsement of former President Trump's unfounded claims of election fraud and rhetoric against government institutions is irresponsible and sets a poor example for Oklahoma's youth. As leaders in education, they should be promoting democratic values, critical thinking, and respect for democratic norms and institutions. I urge you to speak out against this overtly partisan committee and its potential to negatively impact Oklahoma's public education system. Our children deserve an education grounded in facts, inclusivity, and a commitment to producing engaged and informed citizens - not one clouded by partisan agendas or conspiratorial beliefs. Please act to keep partisan politics out of our public schools.
