Vote yes on HB9638, the Sunshine for Our Kids Act of 2026. Twice a year, we reset our clocks for no good reason — and the science is unambiguous about the cost. The spring clock change is directly linked to spikes in sleep deprivation, cardiovascular events, and traffic accidents. Sleep medicine professionals broadly support permanent standard time as the healthier option, especially for children whose school schedules and sleep cycles are thrown off every single year. This bill is a clean fix. It makes standard time the federal default, ends the mandatory biannual clock change, and still lets states opt into daylight saving time if they choose. That's federalism working as it should. The current system forces everyone to participate in a 19th-century relic that modern science has thoroughly discredited. Pass HB9638 and put this issue to rest.
