No war with Iran

To: Sen. Warner, Sen. Kaine

From: A constituent in Richmond, VA

June 19

I’m writing from Richmond to ask you both to do everything in your power to stop the dangerous slide toward war with Iran. Senator Kaine, thank you for introducing your war powers resolution—it’s the kind of leadership Virginians deeply value. You’ve been a consistent voice for constitutional restraint, and this moment demands exactly that. Senator Warner, I was glad to see your recent comments urging caution and pointing to U.S. intelligence that Iran is not actively pursuing nuclear weapons. That matters. Now I hope you’ll take the next step and publicly support or co-sponsor Senator Kaine’s resolution to ensure Congress retains its constitutional authority over war. This isn’t just about one decision, it’s about avoiding another open-ended conflict, another geopolitical mess, another generation asked to clean up the fallout from executive overreach. The American people are tired of these forever wars. We’re asking for diplomacy, transparency, and a vote before bombs fly. Please work together to make sure this resolution moves forward. And that any president must come to Congress before taking us to war. Thank you both for representing Virginia and for taking this seriously.
