Dear Senator Schiff, I am writing to urge you to hold the line against the extreme MAGA continuing resolution being pushed by Republicans. This resolution threatens crucial social programs, including Social Security and veterans' benefits, and risks leaving countless families without food or housing. Most disturbingly, it grants Trump and Elon Musk further control over federal spending, emboldening their dangerous power grab. I implore you not to support this resolution. Instead, please demand a government funding bill that: • Rejects extreme funding cuts and MAGA poison pills that attack abortion rights, LGBTQ+ protections, and immigrant communities. • Includes strong, enforceable protections to prevent Trump and Musk from hijacking federal spending. Until these terms are met, I ask that you vote only for a clean, two-week continuing resolution to keep the government open without handing Trump and Musk a blank check. Furthermore, please use every procedural tool at your disposal to slow down and expose this power grab, including blocking unanimous consent and weaponizing quorum calls. We are counting on you to protect our democracy and stop this dangerous escalation. I look forward to your response.
