Demand answers on how $12 million was quietly moved from the Office of Minority Health to cover Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s security costs — and push to reverse it. The Wall Street Journal reported that HHS diverted those funds while simultaneously cutting grants from the same office, citing "limited" funds. That's not a budget constraint. That's a shell game.
The Office of Minority Health was created specifically to address racial health disparities — funding research on life expectancy, infant mortality, and systemic inequities in the Black community. RFK Jr.'s security budget grew from $10 million in FY2025 to $17 million in FY2026. Stripping a health equity office to cover that gap, while the secretary uses his platform to campaign for Republican incumbents across the country, is an abuse of public resources.
HHS's own spokesperson didn't deny the diversion — they justified it. That's not good enough. Restore the Office of Minority Health's funding and investigate how this reallocation was authorized without congressional approval.
