Please take immediate action to protect lives and restore public trust by:
1️⃣ Removing DHS Secretary Kristi Noem – Her reported delay of FEMA’s search-and-rescue response during the deadly Texas floods—due to an unnecessary $100k approval threshold—was unacceptable and may have cost lives. Leadership at DHS must be based on competence, not politics.
2️⃣ Making FEMA an independent, cabinet-level agency – FEMA should not be trapped within DHS bureaucracy. It must operate swiftly as the logistical backbone for state emergency management and first responders. Congress must advance legislation like Rep. Jared Moskowitz’s FEMA reform bill.
3️⃣ Strengthening—but not subordinating—NOAA/NWS to FEMA – Science must inform emergency response, not control it. FEMA and NOAA should collaborate through real-time forecasting and logistics pipelines, not through agency restructuring that weakens chain of command.
We need leadership, not red tape. Remove Noem. Pass FEMA reform. Lives depend on it.
