Restore Sanity to International Relations

To: Sen. Scott, Sen. Moody, Rep. Wilson

From: A constituent in Miami Beach, FL

January 18

I am writing as a business owner directly impacted by the administration’s trade actions. My company is now paying millions of dollars per year in tariffs, with additional tariffs threatened almost daily. This level of unpredictability makes it impossible to plan, invest, or operate responsibly. Congress’s continued acquiescence has enabled a pattern of erratic decision-making that is damaging U.S. relationships with allies and trade partners, undermining long-term commercial trust, and inflicting real harm on American businesses. Entire strategies can be rendered obsolete overnight by a single announcement. At the same time, foreign policy posturing—from Venezuela to the recent rhetoric around Greenland—has further eroded U.S. credibility abroad. These actions are not strategic; they are destabilizing. There must be consequences and meaningful oversight. We need consistency, seriousness, and leadership that understands how global trade and diplomacy actually function. I urge you to exercise your authority and push back against policies that replace stability with chaos.
