An Open Letter
To: Sen. Warner
From: A constituent in Forest, VA
August 5
According to The Jerusalem Post, Benjamin Netanyahu has confirmed plans to fully occupy the Gaza Strip. I bring this up to you because a country that is being accused by its own human rights groups of committing genocide in Gaza cannot be allowed to occupy the people that they are committing a genocide on. It is because of U.S. support that this slaughter and starvation has been allowed to go on for so long.
If you continue to do nothing to try and stop this, like refusing to support legislation halting weapons sales to Israel, then the further suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza will be on your hands along with everyone else in our government. I have been extremely disappointed and even disgusted over how you have not used all of your power to try and stop this.
You must support halting the U.S. from sending weapons to Israel, you must follow American and International law, and you must support doing whatever it takes to force Israel to allow ALL aid into the Gaza Strip. Not doing all of these things is a disservice to the Palestinian people and to your constituents who have been begging you and the Democratic Party for nearly two years to do the right thing.
I voted for you last election, but if you fail again then I cannot in good conscience support you should you seek reelection to the senate.
