Investigate Trump's Disaster Aid Scheme as Election Interference

To: Rep. Maloy, Sen. Lee, Sen. Curtis

From: A constituent in Salt Lake City, UT

July 2

You need to investigate and publicly condemn Trump's use of federal disaster aid as a campaign tool. He has openly linked the awarding of disaster relief to Republican candidates in swing states, explicitly suggesting voters should reward those candidates for securing the money. That is not politics as usual. That is the corruption of government resources for electoral gain, and it may well be illegal. This isn't a matter of interpretation — Trump said the quiet part loud. Rejecting aid to blue states while dangling it over competitive races with gubernatorial, Senate, and House elections on the line is a textbook abuse of power. Disaster victims should never be bargaining chips in a midterm strategy. I expect you to demand a formal investigation, refer this to the appropriate oversight bodies, and go on record calling this what it is.
