No Tax Breaks for Data Centers

To: Sen. Kolker, Rep. Story, Gov. Polis

From: A constituent in Littleton, CO

February 23

I’m writing because data centers don’t deserve tax breaks. The resources they use will ‘tax’ regular citizens by raising water prices and energy bills. The companies building the centers claim they will increase productivity and profits for the companies using the centers. If that is the case, they don’t need tax breaks. Also, the data centers most likely won’t increase jobs. Which won’t give governments a way to make up for the tax credit. Given the dry climate of Colorado, data centers don’t make a lot sense based on their water and energy usage.
