Vote No on the SAVE Act

To: Sen. Curtis, Rep. Maloy, Sen. Lee

From: A constituent in Salt Lake City, UT

March 29

Vote no on the SAVE Act. This legislation isn't about election security—it's designed to make voting harder for millions of Americans who already face barriers to participation. The bill would force more than 5 million voting-age Americans to drive an hour or more just to register to vote, effectively eliminating online and mail-in registration. Rural voters in western states face an average drive of 49 minutes to their nearest election office, with some Apache County, Arizona residents looking at a 2.5-hour trip each way. Many of these offices don't even keep regular hours. The Brennan Center estimates that 21 million voting-age Americans lack the required documents like birth certificates or passports. This is a solution in search of a problem. Non-citizen voting is not happening at any meaningful scale, but this bill would create real obstacles for citizens trying to exercise their right to vote. The White House can claim 90% support voter ID, but that's not what this bill does—it mandates in-person document presentation at offices that may be hours away and rarely open. Reject this legislation and protect access to the ballot box.
