I urge you, as my elected representative, to take a firm stance against allowing recess appointments by President Trump. The Senate's advice and consent role in confirming executive and judicial nominations is a crucial check on executive power enshrined in the Constitution. Allowing the President to bypass this process through recess appointments would undermine the system of checks and balances and concentrate too much power in the hands of the executive branch. It is critical for the integrity of our democratic institutions that key positions are properly vetted and approved by the Senate. I implore you to fulfill your Constitutional duty and block any attempts by the President to make recess appointments, especially for positions as consequential as Cabinet officials and federal judges. Upholding this principle is essential to preserving the separation of powers and ensuring accountability to the American people.
