Data Center Sales and Use Tax Exemption

To: Del. Ballard

From: A verified voter in Radford, VA

February 27

I respectfully request your support for the proposal to sunset the Sales and Use tax exemption for data centers on January 1, 2027. If Glenn Youngkin’s proposal is approved and the exemption continues until 2050, it will cost the state $40 billion in revenue that could be used for vital infrastructure projects, such as public transportation and water system upgrades. As elected officials, you must prioritize the needs of our residents over providing more money to tech billionaires, as our federal government has been doing openly over the past year, while depriving American citizens of much-needed resources and support. Please do what is right.
