As I'm reading the news, I am struck by the fact that Greg Bovino is being sent back to California. Everything I'm reading suggests he's being taken out of his current roll and sent back to his old job, where he will be retiring soon. This is totally unacceptable. First of all, he should not be allowed to return to any job for our government after the atrocities he has committed against the people living in this country. He has violated the due process rights of US citizens, legal immigrants, and illegal immigrants. He has perpetrated violence on American cities and encouraged those working under him to do the same. He has violated the first amendment rights of protesters. He has violated the second amendment rights of Alex Pretti. He has violated the fourth amendment rights of people by breaking into homes with no judicial warrant. He must be held legally accountable to the American public for these crimes. He must not be able to slink off to his home, retire, and fade from the spotlight. Congress must demand accountability now. He should be made to come and testify under oath to Congress. An investigation should be open and he and his henchmen should be charged criminally to the full extent that the law will allow. When anyone in this country commits a crime, they should expect to answer to the courts. It would be one very small step in rebuilding the trust of the American public with these law enforcement agencies that are supposed to keep us safe. The violation of our trust is catastrophic and will be even worse if he and his men are able to get away with their actions. Stop the flow of funding to CBP, ICE, and any other agencies that are supporting this violence against our neighbors and hold them all to legal account. This is the only way that Congress can possibly attempt to regain our trust.
