Shame on the Republican Party for their ignorance, lies, and attacks on Dr. Fauci. You should have been vocally standing with him and praising his service to this country instead of backing your party. Your party willfully peddled lies during Dr. Fauci's senate hearing. It was a shameless effort to get sound bytes for your MAGA base and to smear Dr. Fauci's good name. It was unconscionable. Dr Fauci has served with honor and humility during his decades long careers. He has served under 7 different presidents, both Republican and Democrat, and was always seen as a scientific expert, not a political figure, until Teump came on the scene. In fact, Dr. Fauci was so respected that President George W. Bush awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his work building PEPFAR. Under this relief agency which Dr. Fauci built, an estimated 26 million lives have been saved. It has also prevented millions of new HIV infections globally since its launch in 2003. What really gets me is that I know you know that it was Trump that caused the horrible response to COVID-19. His ignorance, stupidity and ego were on full display. Yet, you embarrass yourself and our state by trying to blame a man that has helped his country for most of his life. Dr. Fauci saved many, many lives. During the Covington 19 pandemic, Dr. Fauci lead with the same integrity and expertise as he did with PEPFAR. Under his guidance, it is estimated that the US had 3.2 million less deaths from Covington 19 that there would have been without him and others skilled leadership. And on a personal note, my husband is a doctor in our local community, which is a recognized undeserved medical community. While of there doctors and medical staff were sent home, my husband was one of a few dozen skilled specialist who, with the help of nurses, techs, and other front line workers, saved many lives. He and the others did this at great personal risk, and with the fear that they could bring covid home to their families. They watched people young and old alike die from this horrible virus before they understood how it worked. They also watched as vaccine misinformation spread by the right caused deaths that were otherwise preventable. They came out of the pandemic exhausted and traumatized from having to talk with family after family every day, letting them know that their loved one wouldn't make it. The leadership of Dr. Fauci guided their practice and kept them as safe as possible, while helping others. Without it, more patients would have died. More doctors, nurses, and other staff would have also died, without the precautions they took while treating our community members. So shame on you all. Shame on your party for politicizing this issue. Shame on your party for making so many believe that science is political. Shame on you for spreading lies to get the support of your base. Shame on you for pandering to Trump instead of standing for the truth. Many deaths are on your hands, and the hands of the party you refuse to side against.
