I am a Type 1 Diabetic, and I hope to see a cure for Diabetes in my lifetime. I am asking for your support in passing the Islet Act (S.3105) which would make islet cell treatment more likely to be covered by insurance and accesible to people like me.
I also would like to urge my representatives to oppose any bills that further DHS funding. A Type 1 Diabetic was recently detained by ICE and went without insulin for 5 days. This could have killed her. Thousands of others sit in detention centers without regular access to the medications they need and without due process. These human rights violations must stop.
Lastly, I urge my representatives to oppose any funding to Israel to contribute to further attacks on Palestinians. Many diabetics in Gaza have reported being unable to access insulin they need to live. I am strongly opposed to my American dollars contributing to this genocide at the hands of a foreign nation.
Thank you for listening to my concerns on these important issues impacting my community. I am happy to speak with you further on why this is important to me. Your actions on these issues WILL determine if you will receive my vote and future financial support.
