I am a resident of Minnesota’s 1st District, and I am writing to express my deep concern and disappointment with several policy positions you have taken, particularly on immigration enforcement and civil liberties. I understand that immigration and border security are complex issues — but many of us in this district are alarmed by what feels like an over-reliance on aggressive federal enforcement actions that harm communities, disrupt families, and make everyday Minnesotans feel less safe, not more. Recent federal immigration enforcement efforts in Minnesota communities — including expanded ICE operations — have caused real fear and instability for people who live and work here. I respectfully ask you to explain: Why you support expanding enforcement powers and ICE operations instead of pushing for reforms that protect both security and civil rights? How you reconcile these enforcement policies with the needs of Minnesota’s diverse communities, including immigrants who contribute every day to our economy and civic life? Whether you will support bipartisan, comprehensive immigration reform that includes not only border security, but humane treatment and fair, workable legal pathways? In addition to immigration, many of your votes and policy positions point to a pattern of prioritizing national party agendas over the real needs of Minnesotans — especially when it comes to democracy, accountability, and respect for constitutional norms. That concerns me deeply. I urge you to: Support immigration reform that centers human dignity, not just enforcement. Stand up to any administration — of either party — when its actions harm Minnesota communities. Engage honestly with constituents who want solutions rooted in fairness, safety, and respect for the rule of law. You represent a diverse district, and while not everyone will agree on every issue, I hope you will lead with empathy, independence, and courage — especially when federal actions are hurting the people you were elected to serve.
