Think of your portrait on the wall of history

To: Rep. Keltie, Gov. Polis, Sen. Exum

From: A constituent in Colorado Springs, CO

January 30

Hello! Today I got notice of increased DHS activity in Colorado Springs. Immediately I thought of my black and brown friends and started checking on them. And I thought of you. What will you do? How will you respond when actions like those on Minneapolis's streets come to ours? Will you keep us safe? It is as though you stand at the center of a vast stadium made of time and your people, and we watch your words and your actions in every moment to see which side of history you choose. You either stand with the orange wannabe tyrant, or you stand with us. Give them NOTHING. We want you to block ICE, to demand just actions, to ban facial coverings for any law enforcement, to support US and the Constitution. Make plans and take action NOW to prevent our streets from being the next Minneapolis. Think of history, of your portrait hanging on a wall, of the entry next to your name in schoolbooks. Will you be reviled for capitulating in even small ways? Or will you be loved forever for choosing to serve your people instead of the dollar? Thank you for doing the hard work of governance, and for representing us. May you have courage and fortitude for these times of ours.
