I’m writing to express my deep concern and frustration over two alarming developments: the lack of national media coverage surrounding the protests in Los Angeles, and the recent use of military force in Washington, D.C., reportedly authorized by former President Trump.
The protests in LA—driven by legitimate grievances and calls for justice—deserve national attention. The absence of coverage not only undermines the voices of those demonstrating peacefully, but also raises questions about whose stories are deemed worthy of amplification. As a constituent, I believe it is imperative that our representatives advocate for transparency in media and ensure that all communities are seen and heard.
Equally troubling is the deployment of military personnel in our nation’s capital against civilians. The use of force to suppress dissent is antithetical to the democratic values we claim to uphold. I urge you to support a full investigation into the decision-making process behind this action, and to publicly oppose any future attempts to militarize responses to civil protest.
I’m asking you—as someone elected to represent and protect the rights of your constituents—to speak out. Demand accountability. Push for oversight. And ensure that peaceful protest remains protected, not punished.
