End Funding for ICE
To: Rep. DeLauro
From: A verified voter in Stratford, CT
February 3
I am writing as your constituent to urge you to oppose the current federal funding bill unless it fully eliminates funding for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
ICE has repeatedly demonstrated a pattern of abuse, lack of accountability, and disregard for due process and human rights. Continued funding enables practices that separate families, detain people in inhumane conditions, and erode trust between immigrant communities and the government. These actions do not make our country safer, stronger, or more just.
At a time when Congress must make difficult decisions about where taxpayer dollars go, it is unacceptable to continue allocating funds to an agency that has consistently failed to meet basic standards of transparency, oversight, and respect for civil liberties. Real public safety comes from investing in communities, healthcare, housing, and fair immigration processes—not from expanding or maintaining a punitive enforcement system that causes widespread harm.
I urge you to withhold support from any funding package that includes money for ICE and to advocate instead for policies that uphold human dignity, due process, and humane immigration reform.
I will be closely watching how you vote on this issue. Thank you for your time and for considering the views of your constituents.
