End the Twice-Yearly Time Change

To: Sen. Warner, Sen. Kaine, Rep. Subramanyam

From: A constituent in Haymarket, VA

June 22

Support permanent standard time and end the twice-yearly clock change. This outdated practice disrupts sleep, harms public health, and serves no meaningful purpose in modern life. The science is clear: the time shifts are linked to spikes in heart attacks, car accidents, and workplace injuries in the days following each change. Millions of people lose sleep twice a year for no good reason. Pick a time and stick with it. Most people just want consistency — they don't care which time we land on, they care that the disruption stops. Congress has debated this for years without finishing the job. It's time to act and give Americans one less thing to lose sleep over — literally.
