Ted Lieu for Speaker of the House
To: Rep. Lieu
From: A constituent in Los Angeles, CA
November 4
I’m writing to ask you to support Rep. Ted Lieu of California as the next leader of the House Democratic Caucus. If Democrats hold the majority, I want him to be Speaker of the House.
Voters didn’t send Democrats to Washington to look for common ground with people who are tearing down the rule of law. We sent you to fight. Under Leader Jeffries, House Democrats have too often treated Republican abuses as routine politics. Leadership has issued statements when it needed to act and waited out crises when it needed to confront them. That has not stopped the damage, and it will not win back the voters who feel nobody is fighting for them.
Ted Lieu is ready to lead. He is a retired Air Force colonel and a former military prosecutor who served as an impeachment manager in Donald Trump’s second impeachment trial. He already serves in leadership as Vice Chair of the Caucus, and he has never been afraid to call out lawbreaking and extremism by name.
We need a leader who will put accountability first. That means using every power the House has, including investigations, subpoenas, criminal referrals and impeachment, to make sure Donald Trump and those who broke the law with him face consequences. It also means pushing an aggressive legislative agenda, not just playing defense.
Please support Ted Lieu in the caucus leadership elections and tell your colleagues where you stand.
