I am writing to express my strong opposition to the administration’s $1.8 billion "Anti-Weaponization Fund".
This taxpayer-backed fund bypasses congressional authority and lacks essential public oversight. Using public revenue via a Department of Justice settlement to bypass the standard appropriations process directly undermines the separation of powers outlined in the Constitution. Furthermore, using public money to potentially compensate individuals involved in the January 6 Capitol attacks is deeply concerning and sets a dangerous precedent. As Mike Pence said “I mean, it's deeply offensive to me that you could have a fund that could even possibly compensate people who assaulted police officers or vandalized the Capitol on January 6th.”
I urge you to exercise legislative oversight, block this misuse of public funds, and protect our federal institutions.
