An Open Letter

To: Sen. Klobuchar, Sen. Smith, Rep. Omar

From: A verified voter in Minneapolis, MN

April 24

I am writing to urge you to advocate for due process and human rights protections for the individuals deported from the US and currently imprisoned in El Salvador. While I recognize the need to address gang violence, reports of deportations without charges, legal representation, or fair trials are deeply concerning and stand in violation of international human rights standards.  The United States has long championed the rule of law and due process. As your constituent, I believe we have a responsibility to support justice. I urge you to support diplomatic efforts and legislative measures that push for transparency, oversight, and due process for these individuals—particularly in cases where deportation may place them at risk of harm.  Thank you for your leadership and for upholding the values of justice, fairness, and human dignity in U.S. immigration and foreign policy.
