I am writing to express my deep concerns regarding the use of quotas in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations and to urge you, as a leader in our state, to take action against these harmful policies. While immigration enforcement is an essential function, arbitrary quotas place pressure on law enforcement agencies to prioritize numbers over justice, leading to wrongful detentions, rushed proceedings, and increased fear within our communities.
Arizona is uniquely positioned to address this issue at the state level. As a legislator, you have the ability to support policies that limit state and local cooperation with ICE quotas, ensuring that our state does not contribute to enforcement efforts that prioritize statistics over fairness. Additionally, legislative measures that protect due process, fund legal assistance for immigrants, and promote community-based solutions can mitigate the harmful effects of federal immigration quotas.
I urge you to advocate for a statewide stance against ICE quotas and support initiatives that focus on humane, effective immigration policies. Our state should prioritize justice, fairness, and ethical enforcement over arbitrary numerical targets. I appreciate your leadership and ask you to take meaningful steps toward ensuring Arizona does not contribute to unjust immigration practices.
Thank you for your time and dedication to our community.
