An Open Letter

To: Rep. Hoyer, Sen. Van Hollen, Sen. Alsobrooks

From: A constituent in North Beach, MD

October 16, 2025

I demand immediate congressional action to impeach, remove, terminate, or debar any public official or federal worker—including Members of Congress, political appointees, civil servants, military personnel, detailees, interns, AND federal contractors/subcontractors—who display, endorse, excuse, or enable Nazi, white-supremacist, antisemitic, or genocidal symbols, rhetoric, or conduct. This is urgent. A swastika-patterned U.S. flag was photographed inside Rep. Dave Taylor’s office and is under investigation by U.S. Capitol Police (The Guardian, 10/15/25; Washington Post, 10/15/25). The same week, leaked messages from Young Republican leaders praised Hitler, joked about gas chambers, and used racial slurs. Instead of unequivocal condemnation, the Vice President refused to condemn and minimized it as “offensive jokes” (Washington Post, 10/15/25). That normalization from the second-highest office invites more extremism inside government. Congress must act: 1. Independent investigations with subpoena power into extremist activity across all federal workplaces and contractor facilities; mandatory reporting to the House and Senate Ethics Committees and relevant Inspectors General. 2. Zero-tolerance ethics rules explicitly banning hate symbols and affiliations in any official setting; immediate removal from duties pending outcome when credible evidence arises. 3. Accountability for everyone: impeachment or expulsion for Members; censure and loss of committee assignments where appropriate; termination, debarment, and clearance/suitability revocation for appointees, employees, and contractors; referral for criminal/civil action when warranted. 4. Eligibility bars: prohibit hiring, appointment, reappointment, or contract award to anyone who has displayed or promoted Nazi/white-supremacist ideology, subject to due process and evidentiary standards. 5. Mandatory training and screening for all offices and contractors to identify prohibited symbols and behaviors; clear whistleblower channels with anti-retaliation protections. 6. Public leadership: require a clear, unqualified statement from the Vice President and senior officials condemning Nazi rhetoric and hate groups, affirming that such conduct is incompatible with federal service. America fought a world war to defeat fascism. Allowing Nazi ideology to fester inside our institutions betrays every oath of office. Draw the bright line now—investigate, remove, and bar anyone in government or its contractor workforce who promotes or excuses hate.
