Restore CDC's Direct Public Health Communications Capacity

To: Sen. Tillis, Sen. Budd, Rep. Edwards

From: A constituent in Weaverville, NC

May 21, 2025

The public deserves timely access to factual health information and guidance from the CDC during disease outbreaks and public health emergencies. Withholding crucial data and warnings prevents people from taking necessary precautions to protect themselves, their families and their communities. Imposing stringent oversight on the CDC's communications channels, due to the politicization of public health messaging, compromises the agency's vital mission. Restoring the CDC's ability to directly communicate science-based information through its established platforms is imperative to safeguard the nation's readiness to respond effectively to health threats. The obstruction of the free flow of essential public health data is deeply concerning and puts lives at risk.
